Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Deborah Vázquez-Ortiz (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit or interact with dvo.bio (https://dvo.bio) (the “Site”). By using the Site, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

The Site is operated by Deborah Vázquez-Ortiz as a professional bio and connection hub. For privacy-related requests, contact us via LinkedIn or the contact methods published on the Site.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide — such as details you submit when scheduling a meeting through a third-party booking provider, or correspondence you send to us.
  • Automatically collected data — such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP address, collected through our hosting infrastructure and technical logs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small files or identifiers stored on your device to operate the Site, remember preferences, or measure performance, as described below.
  • Firebase / database content — when enabled, the Site may load public profile and link content from Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) project “dvo-bio”. This is generally non-personal site content, not visitor account data.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable law requires). The Site is not directed to children.

3. How we use information

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
  • Display bio, links, and related content;
  • Facilitate connections to third-party services you choose;
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms;
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • Analyze aggregated or de-identified usage to understand Site performance (where analytics are enabled).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising on this Site.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where applicable privacy laws require a legal basis, we process personal information based on: (a) your consent (e.g., when you initiate booking with a third party); (b) performance of steps at your request; (c) legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site; and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

5. Google Firebase and Google services

The Site is built to use Google Firebase (including Cloud Firestore) as a backend and content layer when configured. Google acts as a service provider / processor on our behalf. Firebase may process technical and usage data necessary to provide hosting, database, security, and related infrastructure services.

  • Firebase project identifier: dvo-bio
  • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) when transmitted between your browser and our providers.
  • Data stored in Google Cloud / Firestore is encrypted at rest using AES-256 by default.
  • If we enable Google Analytics or other Firebase measurement products, those tools may use cookies or device identifiers to collect usage statistics. We will update this Policy when such features are activated.

Learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services: Google partner sites policy. Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Firebase privacy information: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Where required, you may opt out of certain Google analytics collection via browser add-ons (e.g., the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on), device advertising settings, or cookie controls described in Section 7.

6. Other connected third-party services

The Site links to or integrates with services operated by independent third parties. Those services have their own privacy policies. We do not control their practices.

  • Cal.com — scheduling and teleconference bookings. Information you submit when booking is collected by Cal.com. See Cal.com Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — if enabled in the future for digital products or payments, payment card and transaction data will be processed by Stripe, not stored on our servers. See Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • LinkedIn — professional profile links. See LinkedIn Privacy Policy.
  • Goodreads — reading list and profile links. See Goodreads Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting & delivery — the Site may be hosted on modern edge platforms (e.g., Vercel or equivalent) that process technical logs and security data. See your host’s privacy notice where applicable, such as Vercel Privacy Policy.

When you follow an external link or complete a form on a third-party site, you leave dvo.bio and become subject to that provider’s terms and policies.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to:

  • Deliver and secure the Site;
  • Remember preferences;
  • Measure traffic and performance; and
  • Support Firebase or analytics functions if enabled.

You can control cookies through your browser settings (block, delete, or limit cookies). Blocking essential cookies may affect Site functionality. Where our hosting or analytics providers honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) or “Do Not Track” signals, we respect applicable opt-out mechanisms to the extent required by law.

8. Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs are typically retained for a limited period by our hosting providers. Booking and payment records are retained according to the relevant third-party provider’s policies.

9. International transfers

We and our service providers (including Google/Firebase in the United States) may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by our providers.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. You use the Site at your own risk.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port personal information, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA (know, delete, correct, opt out of sale/share — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising). EEA/UK residents may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To make a request, contact us via LinkedIn. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date below reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
